“Health is Energy” … “Energy is Health” … “Healing is Energy” … “Energy is Healing.”

No matter how it is said, there is an energy in the body that is responsible for all health and healing of the body. This energy is not the typical ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate) that many health care providers think about. Although ATP is the “energy currency” of the cells, it is not the energy that we will be discussing in this article.

The healing energy that we are discussing, comes from a higher power. It is the innate electrical energy  that allows each and every cell, tissue and organ in the body to function. It flows from the brain down through the spinal cord and outward to the spinal nerves that delivers energy (and function) to each cell, tissue and organ. That same energy also has a feedback that goes from those cells, tissues and organs back through the spinal nerves, upward through the spinal cord and back to the brain, so it can make the appropriate response.

This amazing feedback loop of electrical energy is called the Nervous System. This system is one of the most overlooked systems in the body, yet when properly maintained has the greatest impact on all health and function.

The Nervous System

The Nervous System is a complex network of cells, tissues, and organs that coordinates and controls most of the activities of the body. It is comprised of two main parts: the Central Nervous System (CNS) and the Peripheral nervous system (PNS).

  • Central Nervous System (CNS)
    – The CNS consists of the brain and spinal cord.
    – The Brain is the control center of the body, responsible for processing information, making decisions, and coordinating various activities.
    – The Spinal Cord is a long, tubular structure that extends from the brain down the vertebral column. It serves as a pathway for transmitting signals between the brain and the rest of the body.
  • Peripheral Nervous System (PNS)
    – The PNS includes all the spinal nerves and ganglia outside the CNS.
    – The Spinal Nerves in the PNS can be classified as sensory or afferent nerves, which transmit signals from sensory organs to the CNS, and motor or efferent nerves, which carry signals from the CNS to all of the muscles and glands.
    – The PNS is further divided into the Somatic Nervous System, which controls voluntary movements and sensory information, and the Autonomic Nervous System, which regulates involuntary organ functions like the heartbeat, digestion, and respiratory rate.
  • Neurons and Glial Cells
    – Neurons are the functional units of the nervous system that are responsible for transmitting electrical and chemical signals.
    – Glial cells, or neuroglia, provide support and protection to neurons. They play crucial roles in maintaining the structural integrity of the nervous system and facilitating the function of neurons.
  • Communication
    – Neurons communicate through electrical impulses and chemical signals. Electrical impulses, known as action potentials, travel along the axons of neurons. At synapses, the impulses are transmitted to other neurons or target cells through the release of neurotransmitters.

The Spine and Nervous System

The Spine and Nervous System is the foundation of the life and health of the human body. The spinal column is intimately related to the function of the nervous system due to the fact that it is the protective covering over the spinal cord. Changes in spinal structure (ie the body’s posture) changes the communication between the brain and the body. When the spinal cord and spinal nerves are under stress due to abnormal posture, this causes dysfunction of the body, which eventually can cause disease. It is the foundation of what we do as Doctors of Chiropractic.

Doctors of Chiropractic understand this relationship between spinal structure and body dysfunction. For this reason, it is highly recommended to look at the spinal structure and the function of the nervous system as a solution for many common health care conditions. Many of the most debilitating conditions in the world have a structural issue at its core. This is very commonly overlooked and it is the reason why we believe that correcting spinal posture is the best kept secret to optimal health and well-being. We suggest seeing a chiropractor that specializes in Chiropractic BioPhysics (CBP).

Chiropractic BioPhysics (CBP)

Chiropractic BioPhysics is a specialized and comprehensive approach to chiropractic care that focuses on the structural alignment of the spine and its impact on overall health. CBP practitioners use a combination of postural corrective chiropractic adjustments, exercises, and traction to address abnormal spinal curvature and improve the alignment of the spine.

Key principles of Chiropractic BioPhysics include:

  • Posture Correction: CBP emphasizes the importance of restoring and maintaining proper spinal alignment and posture. Practitioners assess the spine’s curves and use specific adjustments and exercises to correct any abnormalities.
  • Functional Improvement: CBP aims not only to alleviate pain, but also to improve the overall function of the spine and nervous system. By addressing structural issues, CBP practitioners seek to enhance the body’s biomechanics and neurological function.
  • Evidence-Based Approach: CBP is known for its commitment to evidence-based practices. The approach incorporates scientific research and data to support its methods and techniques. CBP is the most scientifically researched chiropractic approach. There are 340+ peer reviewed clinical investigations produced by CBP Research
  • Patient-Specific Care Plans: CBP practitioners often design individualized treatment plans based on a thorough assessment of each patient’s spinal health, including X-rays and other diagnostic tools. The goal is to tailor interventions to the specific needs of the individual.

The Nervous System is vital for coordinating and regulating all bodily functions, including movement, sensation, perception, thought processes, and involuntary activities. It allows an organism to respond to internal and external stimuli, maintaining homeostasis and adapting to its environment. This is the life energy needed to be the healthy and well for a lifetime!
